What specific qualities and traits do you feel make nurses especially qualified to operate a business?: I believe that anyone can successfully start and operate a business - with a lot of patience and determintation.

Where do you work?: Yes, in the hospital setting.

Your most pressing concerns with the profession and healthcare: 1. Hospital administration - indivduals who try to run the institution, but lack knowledge about health care. The administration's only concern is the budget and making $$ (patients are dollar bills, and nothing more); 2. Nursing supervisors/managers - many of whom do not support the RNs when it comes to the nurse-patient ratio. As a traveler, I've worked in hospitals nationwide. About 90% of the larger institutions in which I worked forced RNs to take a 6-10 patient load on the M/S-Tele floor(s)(without a CNA/UAP). I have to point out that many of the patients I cared for were not even appropriate for the floor. In addition, some hospitals were requiring RNs to take 3-4 patients in the Units..how ridiculous is that? It just goes to show that the people running these places have no clue. Ok, I'll step off my soap box for now!

Other areas of interest and expertise: The legal field. I really enjoy the discovery phase of litigation.
