the development and accreditation of the
Continuing Nursing Education ( CNE) Program.
The TTUHSC School of Nursing CNE Program
was the first nationally accredited program
in the State of Texas. It continues today
to meet the needs of West Texas nurses with
timely topics made available to rural health
areas. Since its inception, the School of
Nursing has planned its degree programs to
meet the needs of West Texas. Baccalaureate
students were admitted in Lubbock in 1981,
and four years later in the Permian Basin.
The baccalaureate program is also available
to the Hill Country. The Master of Science
in Nursing program enrolled its first students
in 1988. Today, there are graduate level
offerings in administration, education, five
advanced practice areas, post-masters certifications,
a collaborative advanced practices program
with the University of Texas at Tyler, and
a collaborative Ph.D. program with Texas
Women's University."

was founded at Harris Hospital. The Harris
Hospital School of Anesthesia affiliated
with Texas Wesleyan College in 1982. At that

the patient's age? Older people tend to have polyps and cancer more often. Is there anal pain and a hard, large stool associated with bleeding? A tear of the
anus (fissure) may be the answer. Does blood drip into the toilet after a bowel movement? Bleeding hemorrhoids may be the problem. The color and frequency of
the bleeding are additional considerations. In most cases, the medical history provides clues, but never the final answer.
The Visual and Digital Exam - The physician will inspect the anal area looking for tears and hemorrhoids. A finger exam can provide information when there is
tenderness or a tumor inside. In men, the prostate is also examined."
